    Esther Smith

    Is our chief instructor, she started here at Ranchlands as a 10 year old learner, and always wanted to be a instructor here, and after
    much travelling around with the army one of her other jobs, she has now been teaching here for 13  years.
    She competes regularly and successfully in the dressage arena and recently has taken up the challenge of the eventing ring, wth her new horse Ben, and after a few hair raising rounds, has started to enjoy the adrenaline rush.

    Esther may be pint sized, she only comes up to her 17 hand horse's shoulder, it hasn't stopped her gaining the respect of her students,
    and the keenness they show on turning up week after week for the knowledge Ester is able to pass on.
    Ester has a certificate 111/IV in Sports Coaching.

     Jenny Haines

    Jenny has been a renowned teacher for the last 40 years here in Townsville and the surrounding districts, training many riders to compete at state and national pony club and dressage titles, with considerable success.

    Jenny's love for teaching has never diminished,
    " I still get a kick of teaching someone, who has never sat on a horse before, and watch their joy as they master some of the simplest basics, to teaching our local competition riders, the finer points of dressage"

    Jenny these days mainly specialisers in private dressage lessons for competitive riders and teaching the adults.

    Qualifed as an Equestrian Federation of Australia level 2 Dressage coach. Also juding at advanced level at the competitions, has judged at the agriculture shows, in the Hack and Showjumping ring, as well as a Coach for the Riding for the Disabled.

    Jenny has recently beome a Equine Assisted Learning Faciliatator- working with the horses as co-facilators, helping people in self development, self confidence,  making changes in their life, to gaining tools to overcome difficulties, like anxiety and depresiion. Full day workshops are held regularly throughout the year as well as private sessions.

    Theresa Roberton

    Theresa Roberton is a fully qualifed Pony Club Instructor, she has ridden since a child, and the love has never left her, hence she has two girls who started here at Ranchlands as 6 year olds,
    and now enjoy taking their own horses to all the pony club compeitions in the area. Theresa's expertise is certianly with the young and new riders, as her sharp and comical wit, has endeared her to her pupils.

     Tania Greenwood

    Tania hails from England, where she became a Instructor with the British Horse Society, and worked there teaching before arriving in Australia in 1996.
    Tania actually has been working at Ranchlands on and off for nearly 20 years, in between children etc.  She loves passing on her knowledge and
    respect of the horses and to celebrate every small acheivement you can gain whilst riding different horses. She gains a great rapport with her students,
    and is passionate about what she can help people achieve.

    Sarah is the newest member to our team.  Sarah has years of experience in riding and coaching, and still competes her horses throughout North Queensland.  Since moving up here to study Veterinary Medicine, Sarah competes in Dressage, showjuming and Hacking, and has had previous experience in Eventing. She has alos over 4 years coaching at a Riding Centre in Brisbane, completing her EA Introductory and Coaching certificate and level 1 riding certificate. 
    She is also our stable boss, looking after the horses and well as getting busier every week with her classes.



Our Instructors love what they do.
They are qualified and proficient riders themslves and are very dedicated to passing on their Knoweledge and passion to other horse lovers.
